Meet the Director

Hi! My name is Wendy Garmon and I am the Director at Meadows Place Preschool.

My background working with children started when I worked at a private childcare center that my parents owned in Houston for 35 years.  I worked as a bus driver, cook, after-school and summer-time caregiver for K-4th, preschool lead teacher, Montessori teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, and Assistant Director. After moving from Houston to Richmond, I worked as a Montessori teacher and director in the Richmond area. I believe it is so important to offer early childhood education that provides a developmentally age-appropriate program, with a stimulating environment, where children are encouraged to actively participate in creative learning experiences in a positive and loving environment.

I am incredibly thankful to be working at Meadows Place Preschool in a Christian-based and God-centered learning environment with well-trained, loving, Christian teachers, whose primary interest is your children.  The staff and I start each day with a group prayer for all our Meadows Place Preschool families and children. We ask for God’s guidance and hand to be on our day and for God’s healing hand to be present and known to our families and staff.  It is a perfect start to our day and a great way to draw closer as a team. Chapel time with the children is another great start to our mornings on Tuesdays and Fridays, when the children sing and worship with mindful movement and engaging videos.

I married my high school sweetheart, Steve, when I was 18 years old and he is my best friend.  We have three children - Melissa, Melanie, and Marty - as well as three grandchildren - Anthony, Arianna, and Ella - one tiny Chihuahua named Gidget and an energetic Rat Terrier named Zoe. We all live in the Houston/Richmond area and attend Sugar Grove Church of Christ, where we are actively involved in different ministries of the church.  We love the people. We love the church. We love the authentic worship experience.

In my free time, I enjoy painting, reading, participating in Escape Rooms with my daughters, and watching Hallmark.  My favorite vacation spot is Disney World Florida. My husband and I love to visit Mickey as often as we can.
